A new paper in the medical journal The Lancet paints a positive picture of the fight against malaria. The World Health Organization (WHO) commissioned it three years ago. According to this report, the infectious disease could disappear completely by 2050. But the prime requirement for this mission is money.
How much would it cost. The WHO commission of experts concluded that the deadly disease could be vanquished by 2050. However, this would require a few billions more, according to which the eradication of the disease would cost more than 6 billion US dollars annually. It’s almost twice as much as the amount spent last year: 3.1 billion dollars were spent in 2017, while it was 4.3 billion the previous year.
