The Geneva Environment Network, a cooperative partnership of over 100 environmental and sustainable development organizations, has compiled an expansive list of nature-themed activities to rediscover the green outdoors of the region. After months of being on lockdown, these activities can be seen as a way to revitalize tourism efforts within Geneva.

What’s in store? Various environmental groups have organized exhibitions, shows, contests and outdoor activities for everyone of all ages to enjoy.

  • Mobithèque: Bibliothèques municipales has partnered up with Parc la Grange and Conservatoire et Jardin Botaniques to bring you workshops, games, lectures, concerts, musical quizzes, film conferences, sound installations and walks in nature.

  • Prisons de plastique: An exhibition by Christophe Chammartin portrays the realities of fruit and vegetable production during winter in the Spanish region of Almeria.

  • Humans Locked Down, Nature Unlocked: The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has launched a global photo contest that highlights nature’s beauty and power in the time of Covid-19.

  • Birdwatching at Marais de Sionnet: Discover the different avian species in this nature reserve tucked away in the marshes of the Canton of Geneva.

In the comfort of your homes. Learning more about nature doesn’t always mean heading outdoors. The Geneva Environment Network has also listed online resources and TV programs that can help you discover its beauty.

  • Science Guide App: This app has gathered different materials on science, biodiversity, and nature activities in Switzerland.

  • Nature for All Discovery Zone: This is a unique online platform dedicated to bringing people and nature together, whether virtual or actual.

  • Le Marronier: Available on YouTube, this cartoon series for children from the Muséum d’histoire naturelle and Terre&Nature magazine talks about the animals that surround us.
